No Entry is liable for more than the amount paid in, but there will be no return of a payment.  The right is reserved to reject any entry, and to bar any entry from competition for failure to comply with the conditions of the Futurity.

What Colts and Fillies are Eligible

All horses/foals shown must be DNA typed and Parentage verified with the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ & Exhibitors’ Association. The only exception is for weanlings that their DNA kit has been received by the DNA lab and is in the process of typing and parentage verification.

Nomination & Entry Fees

Sire and Dam Nomination Fees MUST be PAID for foal to be entered. If, after requested, owner of stallion or dam refuses to pay the fee, the initial nominator may pay that fee and the initial nominator will receive the stallion’s and/or dam’s portion of the foal’s winnings.

To show in a National Futurity class, nominated foals must be entered in the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration prior to the entry deadline of July 23, 2024. Nomination fees are paid to TWHBEA and entry fees are paid to The Celebration. Entries are subject to the Rules & Regulations of The Celebration. To be eligible for winnings, the exhibitor and owner must be current members of TWHBEA. If an exhibitor and/or horse are found in violation of USDA, Horse Protection Act, TWHBEA or Celebration regulations, that person will forfeit all winnings, trophies, and points.

Premiums & Fees

All fees must be made to TWHBEA on or before the Nomination Deadline.

Money collected from fees, sponsorships, and the stud fee auction are used to pay premiums to futurity winners (after expenses).

After expenses, 70% of the Futurity payouts will go to the horses’ owner/owners with 15% each going to the nominator of the mare and the nominator of the stallion. The original nominator of the mare and stallion will receive 15% of that nominated foals Futurity winnings throughout its TWHBEA Futurity career.

Money collected from Stallion and Mare fees will be divided equally between the years that the foal is eligible to participate.

Foal Fee – Must be paid each year of eligibility in order to participate. Weanlings have the option of paying a one-time fee that covers all four years of eligibility.

Dam Fee – This is a one-time fee good for the duration of the foal’s Futurity career.

Sire Fee – This is a one-time fee for the particular foal crop nominated. The Sire Fee must be paid for a foal to be entered.

In addition to the fee, stallion owners are required to donate a stud fee that will be auctioned off and added to the Futurity premiums.

For stallions that DO NOT breed to the public, the owner can pay a higher fee and not donate a stud fee.

For stallions that offer public breedings, the owner can opt out of donating a stud fee by paying a higher fee and forfeiting their portion of any premiums.

If, after requested, the owner of the stallion refuses to pay the fee, the initial nominator may pay that fee and will receive the stallion’s portion of the foal’s winnings.

July 23rd, 2024 is the absolute deadline for all nominations who plan to participate in the 2024 Futurity. The only exception is for weanlings which may be nominated at the rate up through September 30 in order to be eligible for the 2025 season.
