In the wake of the recent crippling winter storm, TWHBEA stepped in to assist horse owners impacted by widespread ice damage across the region.
Severe ice accumulation caused the collapse of barns and other structures, resulting in the loss of critical hay and feed supplies for several horse owners. Through its Disaster Relief Fund, TWHBEA purchased and delivered replacement hay and feed to four individuals in Tennessee and Mississippi. Each recipient was quickly vetted and approved by the TWHBEA Advocacy Committee to ensure timely assistance.
Thanks to the continued generosity of the Tennessee Walking Horse industry, TWHBEA maintains approximately $20,000 in its Disaster Recovery Fund. Having these funds readily available allows the Association to respond immediately when disasters strike, without the need to begin fundraising efforts from scratch each time an emergency occurs.
If you are located in a federally declared disaster area and are struggling to care for your horses, help is available. Financial assistance may be provided through the TWHBEA Disaster Relief Fund to address emergency needs. While priority is given to Tennessee Walking Horses, assistance may be extended to all horses as resources allow.
If you or someone you know needs help, please contact TWHBEA at 931-359-1574 or info@twhbea.com.
