Deadline for declaring candidacy for the International Board of Directors is August 1. Each Director must be a resident of the State or Region from which he is elected and must be over 18 years of age at the beginning of the election period.

Each director must be a member that owns registered walking horses for a period of one year, commencing August 1 of the preceding year or be elected and must keep at least one horse continuously registered throughout the duration of the election period and the term, not be suspended, not be on federal suspension or a felon, and have more than three years continual paid membership in the association.   The specifics for eligibility are outlined in the bylaws, https://twhbea.com/corporate-bylaws/.

The Executive Committee confirmed the positions of directors from states and aligned regions for the coming election this October.  There are 29 seats to fill from the following states and regions.

Tennessee – 10
Kentucky – 3
North Carolina – 3
Ohio – 2
Texas – 2
Alabama – 1
Florida – 1
Indiana – 1
Mississippi – 1
Virginia – 1

Region 1 (Austria, Australia, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Slovenia, Sweden, Thailand) –

Region 2 (Michigan, Wisconsin) – 1

Region 3 (Connecticut, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont) – 1

Region 4 (Arkansas & Louisiana) – 1

Corporate Bylaws: Article II Section 1. Voting members are defined as those members who either own a Walking Horse registered with TWHBEA and as hereinafter defined or have been a dues-paying member of the Association for at least three (3) consecutive years prior to August 2nd. Youth members and suspended members are not eligible to vote.

Director Applicants must declare their intention to run by August 1, 2020, to kcorbin@twhbea.com for initial qualification and inclusion on the ballot for that state or region.
