The 2026 Show Managers Luncheon, hosted by TWHBEA in partnership with the Walking Horse Trainers’ Association, brought together show organizers from across the industry for a productive meeting held in conjunction with the WHTA Annual Meeting in Franklin, Tennessee.

A highlight of the luncheon was a presentation from Bernadette Juarez (pictured left), Deputy Administrator for Animal Care with USDA/APHIS, who provided updates and insight from the USDA and addressed questions from attendees.

Sara Smith, entry office manager for The Celebration, introduced a new entry system that will be utilized by many shows this year, including the National Trainers’ Show, Columbia Spring Jubilee, Germantown Charity Horse Show, and all Celebration events. The system is designed to streamline the entry process for show managers and exhibitors alike.

Show managers also heard from Myra Helton of the North Carolina State Championship, who shared several of the unique hospitality initiatives that have helped make her event a success and enhance the overall exhibitor experience.

TWHBEA CEO Mark Farrar presented the results of a poll highlighting what makes a horse show a participant’s “favorite,” offering insight into the elements that matter most to exhibitors and spectators. He also shared a valuable “Checklist for Putting on a Show,” compiled by Dee Cantrell, who has organized more shows than anyone in the industry, providing practical guidance for organizers at every level.

A video of the full presentation, along with the documents shared during the meeting, is available on the TWHBEA website for those who were unable to attend or who would like to review the information.
