In response to the momentum surrounding the newly announced ThorSport Versatility Cup and a generous $12,000 commitment from the Thorson family, TWHBEA is expanding the World Versatility Championship schedule with the addition of two new Youth divisions.
Class 53.1 Western Riding, Youth 17 & Under and Class 54.1 Basic Reining, Youth 17 & Under will be officially added to the event lineup.
Both classes were previously offered only as open divisions, but the change reflects a growing emphasis on youth participation and versatility within the sport. The addition aligns with the structure of the ThorSport Versatility Cup, which includes a dedicated Youth Western Riding & Reining division.
“This is a natural and exciting step forward,” said Lyn Montgomery, Trail & Versatility Vice-President. “With the increased attention the ThorSport Versatility Cup is bringing to versatility competition, it’s important that our premier show reflects those same opportunities, especially for youth exhibitors.”
By creating Youth-specific classes, the TWHBEA World Versatility Championship, presented by Manna Pro, continues to strengthen its commitment to developing well-rounded horse-and-rider teams while encouraging younger competitors to engage across multiple disciplines.
The move is expected to enhance competition at the championship level while giving youth riders a more defined pathway to showcase their skills in Western Riding and Reining.
