Larry Lowman

TWHBEA is saddened to have lost a great leader and friend. Larry Lowman, Vice President of the Training/Equine Welfare Committee, lost his battle with Cancer during the night. Mr. Lowman has been in the Walking Horse Industry for over 55 years, serving 6 terms as Vice President on the Executive Committee and 11 terms as a Director from Tennessee. Mr. Lowman was a true horseman and his love and knowledge for the TWH was unsurpassed.

Larry was the 1st inductee honored into Opryland Hotel’s Tennessee Walking Horse Museum in 2006. He founded Bridlewood Farm in Shelbyville, TN which developed into one of the industry’s largest breeding farms. In 2004 Bridlewood Farm was featured in the Rand-McNally Road Atlas as one of the top 20 attractions to see in America and was on the Tennessee attraction list. Larry designed the Commemorative Garden for TWHBEA and started the “Rolling Billboard” project that depicts murals of life-size Walking Horses on semi-trailers that travel across the nation. Mr. Lowman also served 9 years as president of The Tennessee Backroads Heritage Organization.

Funeral Arrangements will be listed when known.
