National Futurity Proves Successful

Lewisburg, TN - The Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ and Exhibitors’ Association (TWHBEA) National Futurity, held the evening of Thursday, July 19 at Miller Coliseum in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, proved to be quite the success. The premier showcase for young Tennessee Walking Horses, this year’s event included a number of classes that were open to youngsters not nominated to the National Futurity along with the standard schedule of Futurity classes.  The show, which was judged by Gene ‘Smoky’ Carswell, Jesse Dotson, Jr., and Billy Young, boasted a total of 226 entires vying for a total purse of $58,561.Overall, Memories were made in every division as some of our industry’s best young horses strutted their stuff in front of an enthusiastic crowd of spectators. Discussing the evening, TWHBEA President Marty Irby related, “We are very proud of such a successful Futurity with 226 entries. I would like to thank each trainer, owner and breeder who helped, supported and participated in this great event.”
